ACTIVITIES:
-
SIERRA NEGRA VOLCANO HIKING
We will meet you around 7:30 am at our meeting point - the office in Puerto Villamil or we can pick you up at your hotel. The Sierra Negra Volcano tour begins with a 20 - 30 minute pickup ride. This allows us to be more flexible on the trip. When we arrive at the National Park checkpoint your tour guide will register the group and you will have the opportunity to meet the other people with whom you will be hiking with.
From the National Park checkpoint wild nature begins. We will walk through the lush and green highlands of Isabela, listening to facts and stories about the volcano, as well as information about the plants and fauna that make this place your home. After conquering the slightly steeper part, which will take 30 to 45 minutes, you will be rewarded with the first impressive viewpoint over the 10-kilometer wide crater of the Sierra Negra volcano. The viewpoint is located right on the edge of the crater. From here, the cliff descends for more than 100 meters. So, you get an amazing panoramic view of Isabela. There will be plenty of time to take stunning photos. From here, approximately every 15 minutes, the landscape will change drastically from dense vegetation to colorful lava rocks. You will feel like walking on the moon. It is easy to imagine that the entire chain of the Galápagos Islands once looked like this. In the volcano, you will observe how life grows slowly among the rocks and evolves before your eyes in a complete circle of how the islands emerged.
It takes approximately 1 1⁄2 to 2 hours to reach the first and only refuge in the Sierra Negra volcano. Here will be the lunch break. Always remember to take all of your belongings with you, we do not want to litter this nurtured place.
All excursions to the Sierra Negra go to Chico Volcano, which shows an interesting landscape, active fumaroles, spatter cones and ash, crystallized minerals, collapsed lava tunnels and impressive lava formations. The Chico Volcano was formed from the 1979 outbreak of the Sierra Negra. When the lava spilled over the rim, it created this smaller but impressive secondary crater. With good weather you can get a great view of the other volcanoes of Isabela.

TUNELES CABO ROSA SNORKELING
Our trip will begin when we board our boat at the Puerto Villamil pier, where we will see some iguanas and sea lions playing and resting. Once we are on the boat, you will be greeted by the crew and receive information from your guide while looking for your best seat and also putting on a life jacket. Then we take off.
Roca Union & Blue-Footed Piqueros Dancers
After 20 to 30 minutes, we will arrive at our first stop, Roca Unión. Prepare to take incredible photographs as it is a favorite fishing spot for the Nazca alcarps. Additionally, you will witness sea lions taking a nap or brown pelicans flying.
Next we will arrive at the Tunnels. This place will be completely different than before, as the sea will be much quieter due to solid lava formations. We will stop and walk along the rocks. In this fascinating landscape, you will discover many blue-footed boobies. During the mating season, these birds will show off their impressive dancing skills. Relax and enjoy the show.
After 10-15 minutes, it is time for the best part of the day: snorkeling! This unique area is highly important to us, so we want to maintain a safe environment for everyone. The guide will remind you of the rules of the National Park and also provide tips to improve your snorkeling experience. After adjusting and checking the equipment, we will spend at least an hour in the water. This is your chance to play with sea lions, swim with sea turtles, rays, sharks or just enjoy the rich marine life of the Galápagos.
Whale Watching & Manta rays
Depending on the season and luck, you may be able to enjoy a very rare sighting on this tour. From June to October, majestic humpback whale colonies travel in front of Isabela. Seeing them will definitely be something that will be cherished in your mind forever. There are opportunities to spot Manta rays all year round.
