DIVING CONDITIONS
When deciding if your skills and fitness are suitable for the Galápagos, keep in mind that diving is varied and demanding. The extreme conditions of the Galápagos Islands – cold water, strong currents and limited visibility – mean that diving there is generally reserved for advanced divers. However, there are magnificent sites for intermediate divers. We recommend that divers visiting the Galápagos have more than 20 dives recorded. It is also preferable that divers have had some experience with difficult surface conditions, low visibility and strong currents; and that they have encountered exposure to cold water diving, which requires thicker diving suits and hoods.
